Industry is a competitive business, particularly with increasing pressures from overseas. But, Lee Countys industrial and manufacturing base finds much of its strength from the collective effort of all of our great companies combined. While different companies have inherent strengths, all work together for the good of our community and region.
The Lee County Industrial Manager's Association helps make that happen by providing professional development for plant managers and developing business relationships that strengthen everyone involved.
:: Professional Development
Meetings are held quarterly. Generally, one meeting each year includes a "best practices" tour of an industrial facility in Lee County. Other luncheon meetings feature consultants who bring expertise on a critical issue in industrial management.
Some recent programs include Peter Schutz, retired CEO of Porche on gaining a competitive advantage, George Ports of Capital Associated Industries on the changing face of worker's comp, Bob Jones of Solomon EOS on avoiding pitfalls in lean management, Kevin Corley of Alliantgroup on taking advantage of federal tax breaks and Tim Linker of the Procurement Technical Assistance Center on doing business with the government.
