| Clemellyn "Clem" Welch has deep roots in Broadway, having grown up in the area, graduated from Broadway High School and served for more than 25 years as an English and Humanities instructor at Central Carolina Community College until her retirement in 2005.
The Broadway native has been deeply involved in the community as a member of the Broadway Planning Board and Board of Adjustment; Joint Planning Commission for Broadway, Lee County and Sanford; Unified Development Ordinance Steering Committee; and Broadway Centennial Committee. She is a member and past president of the Woman's Club of Broadway.
Welch received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Master of Education from Campbell University. She and her husband, Bill, have one daughter, Wendy Welch Bryan, and two grandchildren, Pait and Carrie Ellen Bryan.
