LEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION Southern Base of the Research Triangle Region NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Thursday, February 8, 2007 FREE "LEARN TO FLY" SEMINAR SET FOR FEB. 20 AT SANFORD-LEE COUNTY AIRPORT SANFORD -- Flying can be an exhilarating, liberating experience, and recent innovations have made it more affordable than ever before. "LEARN TO FLY @ the airport," a free seminar open to the public, will explain the expanding options for flight. The 90-minute overview will be held Feb. 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Sanford-Lee County Regional Airport. It is co-sponsored by the airport and the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division of Aviation. Tom Freeman, a state aviation safety specialist, will explain all of the essentials -- how to earn a pilots license and what aircraft are now available -- and then will answer questions. He will be joined by representatives from the Sanford Aircraft Services flight school and Wings of Carolina Flying Club, both based at the local airport. "Most people don't realize how wide the range of options can be," says Freeman. "Not only can people learn to fly an array of conventional aircraft, but also helicopters and the entirely new class of less-expensive light sport aircraft." D-Bar-D Aviation, the United States distributor for Fantasy Air light sport aircraft, is based at the Sanford-Lee County Regional Airport. Refreshments will be served and space is limited. To enroll in the free seminar, contact airport manager Danny Swanson at 919-776-2939 or info@sanford-leecoairport.com. "LEARN TO FLY @ the airport" is one of many special activities and events sponsored by the Sanford-Lee County Regional Airport.
